Meta reported another strong quarter, continuing a run of earnings that have given investors reason for optimism about the company's execution. The report was well received on its own terms.

But the reaction outside Meta's own stock tells a more complicated story. Despite Meta's results landing alongside a similarly strong report from Tesla, broader tech futures fell the same session and bitcoin slid back from a brief push above $84,000 to $82,500. That suggests the market is drawing a line between confidence in individual AI-exposed companies and confidence in the AI trade as a whole.

What's unresolved is whether that gap closes if more AI-linked companies report strong numbers in coming weeks, or whether single-company beats keep failing to move the broader tape.
